The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has announced that the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) will launch its “Flow with Confidence” programme on October 2nd. The initiative aims to provide 370,000 schoolgirls with a year’s supply of sanitary pads to improve attendance during menstruation.

She disclosed this at Government House, Sokoto, during the RHI Food Outreach Scheme, where food items were distributed to vulnerable groups. Represented by the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, she also outlined plans to establish Environmental Clubs in schools to drive cleanliness and tree planting.

The Food Outreach Scheme, launched in March 2024, has reached 17 states, with Sokoto as the latest beneficiary, supported by ASR Africa and private donors. Mrs Tinubu praised Sokoto’s First Lady, Hajiya Fatima Ahmed Aliyu, for supporting RHI initiatives, including the RHI/Tony Elumelu Foundation empowerment programme.
