Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, said his administration will partner with France in agriculture, public transportation, and other areas of interest.

He said Lagos will continue to do whatever it required to improve the mutually beneficial relationship it has with France.

The governor spoke during a visit by the France Ambassador to Nigeria, Marc Fonbaustier, at the Lagos House, Marina.

He said, “We have had extensive, tremendous support and a very wonderful relationship with the French Government, the French Embassy, and the Consul-General in my almost six years in government. And every successive Ambassador and Consul-General has had a pretty unique relationship with Lagos, and we are excited for that. We believe that in your time as Ambassador, you will grow the relationship further.

“Lagos is important to France, and there are few things that we are doing together in agriculture, public transportation, and water transportation. We will fashion out how to improve the mutually-beneficial relationship, even as a subnational that we are, as compared to both sovereign in France and Nigeria.

“We will continue to let the relationship grow and blossom, and whatever it requires of us to do to improve, enhance, and increase that relationship, we are here to do that.”

Speaking earlier, Ambassador Marc Fonbaustier commended Governor Sanwo-Olu, whom he described as ‘a driving force and an inspirational leader’ for his leadership in Lagos State.

He said his visit to Lagos is to sustain what is on track in terms of deepening the relationship between Lagos and France, as well as launching more ambitious projects because of their belief in Lagos State.
