Following his recent strident criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration, the Chief Whip of the Senate, Ali Ndume, has been removed from his position.

He has been replaced by a fellow lawmaker from Borno State, Senator Tahir Monguno.

Ndume’s removal was sequel to a written request by the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Danguje and National Secretary, Ajibola Bashiru, to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.

Some days ago, Ndume alleged that President Tinubu had been “caged” by some forces in the seat of power and no longer inaccessible to people, who were ready to offer him advice on the state of the nation.

He also accused the President of being insensitive to the economic challenges being faced by Nigerians, a claim the Presidency and the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), of which Ndume belongs, denied.
