The Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, has said Lagos State deserves to be accorded a special status by the Federal Government.

The paramount traditional ruler also appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the government of President Bola Tinubu.

The Lagos monarch said these while playing host to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who paid him a courtesy call at his palace in Lagos.

According to Oba Akiolu, the President meant well for the nation and would deliver on his electoral promises.

“I’m appealing that we should continue to pray for Nigeria and the President. We should be patient. Everything good needs prayers,” the monarch said.

The monarch, who commended the First Lady for her various intervention programmes, also restated his appeal for a special status for Lagos State as the former Federal Capital of Nigeria, noting that this would further boost the economy of the state and the country.

The First Lady, who was accompanied on the visit by wives of some South West Governors, National Assembly members, wives of ministers and wives of service chiefs, thanked the royal father for his continued support, prayers and admonitions.

In her brief remarks, Tinubu assured that the request by Oba Akiolu for a special status for Lagos will get the attention of the National Assembly.
