The Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, has declared every July 14 as ‘Wole Soyinka Day’ for all the ancient town’s indigenes.

The declaration is in honour of Africa’s first Nobel Prize winner in Literature, Professor Wole Soyinka’s 90 birthday.

Soyinka, though a native of Isara Remo in Ogun East senatorial zone of Ogun State, has deep maternal roots in Egbaland, where he also owns a house.
