The meeting between National Assembly leaders and the Organised Labour to avert the strike action called by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) appears to be deadlocked.
The strike, which is expected to kick-off tomorrow, is in protest against the proposed new National Minimum Wage of N50,000 being proposed by the Federal Government, as against the N400,000 tabled by the Labour.
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio and Speaker, House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbass, had invited the Labour leaders for a meeting as a last-ditch effort to avert the strike.
The meeting, which held for long hours on Sunday, also had in attendance top officials of the Federal Government, including Secretary to the Federal Government, George Akume and the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Olawale Edun.
