Ebonyi State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, has assured defectors from other political parties of equal treatment.

Emegha stated this at Isiaka, in Ivo Local Government headquarters during a defection rally to welcome over 3000 loyalists of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Tuesday.

The defectors were led by the former PDP member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Livinus Makwe and a handful of Labour Party, LP, defectors led by the deputy governorship candidate in the 2023 general election, Prince Igwe Nwabueze and others from National Rescue Movement (NRM).

Emegha noted that there were still more rooms to accommodate anyone with genuine intention of joining the APC.

He commended the state governor, Francis Nwifuru for stirring the massive wave of defection through his all inclusive administration which has impacted positively on the citizens and visitors alike in less than a year in office.

“I’m interested in winning more souls for our party and that’s why I still go about asking people to join us so that they can enjoy what we are enjoying.

“The person you didn’t work with today, you might work with tomorrow. Let’s all forget the past and forgive each other. The party is open to all and we need more people.

“There is no reason for opposition since our God-given governor, Right Honourable Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru is working more than expected and has been making Ebonyians happy with good leadership.

“One party system is fine when there’s good leadership. You can only oppose when we have a bad leader. Ebonyi is blessed with the best governor and that’s why opposition members have been collapsing their parties to support the Nwifuru-led government”, Emegha stated.

Speaking during the event, the Ivo council Chairman, Mr Emmanuel Ajah said Ivo was better united under APC, expressing delight over the development.

He assured them that no one will be discriminated against, as everyone has their own role to play in making Ivo LGA and Ebonyi State better.

In their separate speeches, Hon. Livinus Makwe and Igwe Nwabueze on behalf of other defectors, thanked the council Chairman, Ajah for his open mindedness, stressing that since he came onboard as the council Chairman, he has been carrying all the stakeholders along, irrespective of party affiliation.

They commended the state APC Chairman, Emegha and the leader of the party in the state, Governor Francis Nwifuru for his all-inclusive administration which they said made them join APC.
