After a brief hiatus making movies, legendary filmmaker, Tunde Kelani, is set for another big project.
The Ogun State-born TK, as he is fondly called, is putting finishing touches to producing and directing a sequel to Saworoide, one of his iconic works, which made waves in the early 90’s.
The Document learnt that the first production meeting of the Saworoide (Part 2) held a few weeks ago, with top movie stars, production and video editors, in attendance. Kelani chaired the gathering.
According to a source in the know, thespians, including Kunle Afoloyan, Femi Adebayo, Funke Akindele, A-list movie makers in their own rights, and Lateef Adedimeji, the star act in Kelani’s last flick, Ayinla, are expected to feature in the new project.
It is, however not clear yet if Kelani plans to strike a deal with movie streaming platform, Netflix, to show the film or take it round cinemas.
The CEO of Mainframe Films and Television Productions has produced talk-of-the-town movies such as Ti Oluwa Nile, Ayo Ni Mo Fe, Koseegbe, Oleku, Thunderbolt (Magun), Saworoide, Agogo Eewo, The Campus Queen, Abeni, Narrow Path, Arugba and Maami and Ayinla.
Another of his works, Dazzling Mirage, is an adaptation from a novel written by Olayinka Egbokhare.
